Stickypod

I've added a great new tool to my arsenal... A StickyPod Director Kit.

This kit is great for any type of vehicle based shooting.  It will hold cameras as large as the Sony F900 and can hold on to a vehicle at incredible speeds.  So far I've only tested it with a FlipHD and a Canon EOS 7D.  Hit the jump to learn more about this rig, and to see more pics.
The reason the sticky pod is so strong is these little suction cups that are on each of the plates.  After shooting all day last Friday, these things we're still tight.  So much so that we had trouble getting them off.  The reality of it is: One plate would be plenty for the camera the I have been using, however the full kit provides more stability and safety.

The Director Head is the special device that allows for multiple plates to be used.  This thing can be mounted in pretty much any position using plates on different planes to ensure better stability and control.

By having the camera mounted outside the vehicle (which is constantly moving) it can be difficult to ensure that the shot is correct the entire time.  For this reason we've added a remote LCD in the vehicle for video monitoring.  In the future I'll be trying to shoot tethered to a laptop for better control of the camera.

Here is a quick overview of the Director, from Sticky Pod Inc.

This tool can be used for a variety of projects and is now available to my clients.  If you have a project in mind or need a way to shoot from a moving vehicle contact me today!
